Coach Jeff Fisher said on Sunday that the St. Louis Rams will "rally around" Shaun Hill now that starting quarterback Sam Bradford is out for the season.
Speaking to reporters Monday, Fisher left no doubt that Hill will take over the offense "and that won't be changing."
"I think it's important once you make a change for whatever reason, you stick with it," Fisher explained, via ESPN.com's Nick Wagoner. "And we're sticking with this."
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport told Dan Hellie on Monday's edition of NFL Total Access that the Rams are not interested in surrendering valuable draft picks for trade targets such as Mark Sanchez or Ryan Mallett.
Rams sources pointed out to Rapoport that the offense was already built for a game manager, with Bradford coming off ACL surgery. The strength of the team is a swarming defense and a consistent running game.
Two general managers opined to Rapoport that Hill is actually better than a couple of NFL starters. We would argue that the former 49ers' starter, who possesses a career 13-13 record and a respectable 85.9 passer rating, is a better option than four or fivequarterbacks set to open the season under center.
Embarking on a second ACL procedure in less than a calendar year, Bradford's future in St. Louis is an open question. He's due a non-guaranteed $12 million salary with a $17 million salary-cap number in 2015.
The Rams can move on and explore other options if they are not comfortable with Bradford's knee by next March.
