Jurrell Casey has signed a multi-year contract extension with the Tennessee Titans that keeps him under contract through 2018.
"We are excited to come to an agreement on an extension with Jurrell," general manager Ruston Webster said in a statement. "This is something Jurrell has earned not only with his play on the field but his work ethic as well. We appreciate Jurrell's professionalism through this process and look forward to many good years to come."
The sides had been in discussions for months. The team wanted to lock down the 2011 third-round draft pick before he hit the open market next year.
Casey's agent Drew Rosenhaus told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport that it's a four-year deal worth $36 million with $20.5 million guaranteed. According to the agent's numbers, the contract makes Casey the highest-paid player on the Titans. The guaranteed money is also the highest on the team.
Casey's production is something to monitor in 2014 as the Titans move to a 3-4 scheme under defensive coordinator Ray Horton, where the lineman will play a crucial role.
