Another week in college football passed on Saturday with Texas A&M fans still wondering if their offense will ever miss a beat without former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel.
After two games, it hasn't.
Kenny Hill fired four touchdown passes in barely more than a half of play as the Aggies hammered Lamar, 73-3. With the game well in hand, freshman backup Kyle Allen saw extensive second-half action while Hill took the rest of the night off after throwing for 283 yards. Hill broke Manziel's single-game school passing record last week in a 52-28 win over South Carolina with 511 yards. He found four different receivers for his touchdowns on Saturday, from distances of 24, 51, 9 and 18 yards.
Hill now has 794 yards passing in a little more than six quarters of action this season.
While Hill can only hope to be as effective as Manziel over the long term, he's doing all he can -- under a directive from coach Kevin Sumlin -- to stay out of some of the embarrassing situations Manziel found himself in.
For now, though, he's only embarrassing defenses.
