Two key players on the Washington Redskins are expected to miss the Week 2 game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Coach Jay Gruden announced Monday that tight end Jordan Reed and nose tackle Barry Cofield will both miss "some time" with a hamstring injury and high-ankle sprain, respectively.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Cofield will miss three or more weeks, per a source informed of the injury.
Cofield is the team's best run-stuffer. In his absence, defensive end Chris Baker will slide into the middle against a Jaguars' ground attack that found no success in Philadelphia on Sunday.
Reed's injury is a blow to a Redskins' passing game struggling to find its way as Robert Griffin III tries to recapture his confidence in the pocket. The downgrade from Reed to Logan Paulsen and Niles Paul is severe.
If the Redskins are going to end the NFL's longest current losing skid, they will have to do it without two of their 10 best players.
