If you're still waiting for the mistake-prone Bo Wallace to show up for Ole Miss, holding your breath might not be wise. The Rebels' senior quarterback passed one of the most challenging road tests on Ole Miss' schedule Saturday in a 35-20 win at Texas A&M.
He wasn't spectacular, but he mistake-free. And with the support of a ferocious Rebels defense, that was enough.
Wallace completed 13 of 19 passes for 178 yards with a touchdown, and added two more touchdowns rushing among 50 yards on the ground. The biggest number for Wallace, however, was zero -- as in zero turnovers -- while Texas A&M quarterback Kenny Hill committed three of them (two interceptions, one fumble).
After a shaky, three-interception performance against Boise State to open the season, Wallace has been much improved in leading the Rebels (6-0) to a top-five ranking and national prominence atop the SEC West division. He has completed 68.5 percent of his passes on the year (124 of 181) for 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns. Oddly, all six of Wallace's interceptions on the year have come against non-conference opponents.
Ole Miss senior safety Cody Prewitt returned one interception of Hill 75 yards for a first-half touchdown, and Keith Lewis scooped Hill's fourth-quarter fumble for a 21-yard Rebels score that put the game out of reach. Rebels cornerback Senquez Golson recorded the other of Hill's picks, which was Golson's SEC-leading fifth of the season.
Ole Miss plays host to Tennessee next week.
