On a day full of drama around college football, USC was actually set to fly mostly under the radar with a blowout win over Colorado.
Being USC however, the Trojans weren't content to go quietly into the night. Neither, apparently, was former star tailback LenDale White.
The ex-Tennessee Titans starter had called for athletic director Pat Haden to fire head coach Steve Sarkisian on Twitter during the team's win over Arizona last week. Attending the game, which doubled as the school's homecoming, White told the LA Times after the team beat Colorado that he had apparently changed his mind.
"Let it be known, man, I ain't against nobody," White told The Times on the field. "I'm a for-real Trojan, so what I say is out of pure emotion during the game."
Only then, he appeared to change his mind. Again.
White asked to change his quote -- "I felt the exact same way as I did last week." -- and later told the paper that school administrators and security personnel were kicking him out of the Coliseum.
"Fire Sark tonight," White shouted.
In video of the incident posted online, it does appear White is led away after angrily issuing several comments, but only faint audio is avaliable.
A few minutes later, the former running back tweeted a number of negative comments at Haden for apparently tossing him from the venue. A school spokesman told the Times that Haden had not ordered White removed.
"I think LenDale is a passionate guy," Sarkisian said. "He loves USC. We all want to win. We are all passionate about what we do. It is what it is."
What it is is drama, something USC knows plenty about.
