Chris Johnson came to New York hoping to revive his career with the New York Jets. He's since realized how good he had it in Tennessee, where the Titans never hesitated to force-feed him the ball.
Now he barely gets on the field. Johnson played only 16 out of 85 snaps last week against Buffalo, and has topped 30 snaps in a game only twice on the season. Just five years removed from a 2,000-yard season, the 29-year-old is stuck as a role player behind Chris Ivory. Asked what he was looking forward to for the rest of the season, Johnson couldn't even pretend.
"I really don't know. If it's going like it's been going, there's nothing to be excited about or look forward to. I don't know what's really going to change," Johnson said via ESPNNewYork.com.
Johnson said that he just wants to help the team win and doesn't want to become "the guy that becomes a distraction," and wants more opportunities, which is natural. But it probably won't happen in New York unless Ivory gets injured, and it's fair to wonder if any team will give Johnson a job next season.
