TUSCALOOSA -- Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin raised his hands to celebrate an Amari Cooper touchdown Saturday night, a 39-yard deep ball in the third quarter, before the pass had even left quarterback Blake Sims' hand. Cooper, of course, led Alabama to a 55-44 win with 224 yards receiving and three touchdowns, and he confirmed after the game that the touchdown Kiffin called before the pass was thrown came against a Kiffin favorite: man coverage.

Not bad, Lane.
Cooper admitted after the game that Kiffin's confidence in him against man coverage knows few, if any, bounds.
"I think he's seen me do it a lot of times in practice against man to man," Cooper said. "So, yeah."
A junior, Cooper said the first of his two touchdowns came against man coverage; the last one -- a 75-yarder -- came against a Cover 3 look. Saturday night, it didn't much matter what Auburn tried. Cooper probably sealed a Biletnikoff Award win as the nation's top receiver with the 13-catch performance, and no doubt collected a few Heisman Trophy votes on the night, too.
There's little doubt he'd get Kiffin's vote.
