In one of the more shocking developments during Wednesday's news cycle, Rams head coach Jeff Fisher admitted that he would probably do that whole Robert Griffin III trade all over again.
While neither team has exploded since the maneuver, which sent three first-round picks and a second round pick to St. Louis for the second overall pick in the 2012 draft, it's hard to imagine Fisher dealing with a situation where he has two quarterbacks that he can't trade or use to his advantage.
"It wasn't difficult for us," he told reporters Wednesday, via The Washington Post. "We looked at our roster and it wasn't difficult to see that we had a lot of holes. So, it was easy for us to do."
In all, the Rams walked away with Greg Robinson, Alec Ogletree, Stedman Bailey, Zac Stacy, Michael Brockers, Janoris Jenkins, Isaiah Pead and Rokevious Watkins. When asked about the picks individually, Fisher seemed to have high hopes for the future.
"If you take into consideration I have three defensive starters that are playing at a real high level -- Alec Ogletree is playing as good as any linebacker behind the ball the last few weeks, Janoris (Jenkins) is an outstanding corner who has two interceptions returned for touchdowns, and Brockers," Fisher said.
"And then we were able to pick up (left tackle Greg Robinson), who is our future at left tackle, and we have Stedman Bailey, who in our last game had five catches for 100 yards, and Zac (Stacy) is an outstanding young back. So, I think we've made the most of it. We're building our team to compete in the division and I feel like we're making strides. That's one of the questions we wanted to have this year."
Evaluating Fisher's words is difficult without a true quarterback under center. Having an effective passing game, one that could integrate Tavon Austin alongside Bailey, and one that could take some of the pressure off Stacy, could quickly legitimize a Rams team that seems to be one step away.
Of course, much of that will hinge on the team's selection of Robinson, who has only made eight starts with mixed reviews at guard and tackle.
Still, there's precious few general managers or head coaches who would look back on that deal from Fisher's side with regret.
