Colt McCoy on track to start for Redskins in Week 15

Colt McCoy will remain the starter for the Redskins as long as he is healthy enough for the job.

That according to Washington coach Jay Gruden, who told reporters on Thursday that McCoy will start against the Giants in Week 15 if he passes precautionary tests on his injured neck on Friday.

Gruden said McCoy "looked fine" in practice on Thursday. McCoy suffered a strained neck in Sunday's shutout loss to the Rams.

"We're still waiting on full clearance from Colt," Gruden said. "Colt had a good day today, and so long as he goes through the proper necessary precautions and make sure he gets clear, Colt will be the starter. But he still has a process that he has to go through."

Gruden added that Redskins coaches feel McCoy "is in the lead" over Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins in terms of development this season. Gruden said that Griffin would return to the starting lineup if McCoy doesn't get cleared on Friday.
