Gary Kubiak garnering interest from 49ers, Jets

Gary Kubiak could get another shot at a head-coaching gig.

While the Baltimore Ravens' offensive coordinator is prepping for his playoff battle with the Patriots next Saturday after beating the Steelers, other teams are eyeing potential interviews.

Speaking on NFL Network's NFL GameDay Morning, Ian Rapoport reported that the San Francisco 49ers are expected to show interest in the former Houston Texans coach. The Jets are also expected to reach out to Kubiak if the Ravens lose.

Kubiak spent eight seasons as the Texans' head coach after 11 seasons running the Denver Broncos' offense. He was fired in 2013 after making the playoffs the two previous seasons. He went 63-66, including 2-2 in the playoffs, over his eight years in Houston.

The 53-year-old Kubiak has helped revamp the Ravens' offense, which finished the season No. 8 in scoring (25.6 points per game) over the course of the season. His zone-blocking run game helped unleash Justin Forsett for 1,266 yards. Quarterback Joe Flacco had the best regular season of his career under Kubiak's tutelage and scheme.

Kubiak is one of several retread coaches, including Rex Ryan, Josh McDaniels, Jim Schwartz and others who are getting looks for a second chance at guiding an NFL team.
