The debate on whether Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota is the top quarterback in the NFL draft could rage for months, but there is little doubt which defensive lineman stands out most to NFL scouts leading up to the NFL Scouting Combine.
USC's Leonard Williams is in a group of six or seven players who could be the No. 1 pick, NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah said, and has every physical tool NFL clubs would look for.
"Leonard Williams, from all the guys I've seen so far, has been the most dominating player," Jeremiah said on NFL Now. "Everything you want -- the size, the length, the explosiveness, the versatility. You can play him all over the line on defense. He reminds me a lot of Richard Seymour. That's pretty good company to keep."
Williams filed for early draft eligibility as a junior. At 300 pounds, he made 80 tackles and seven sacks despite minor injuries last year for the Trojans.
Jeremiah also commented on the Mariota-Winston debate, and the depth of the running back position for the 2015 draft. Winston's interception bug for the Seminoles -- he threw 17 last season -- wasn't entirely his own doing, Jeremiah indicated.
"The tape is fine with Winston," Jeremiah said. "I know he had some interceptions this year, but when you really study it, you'll see tipped passes, you'll see miscommunication with young receivers. I don't worry about that quite as much. I see an advanced player."
As for the backs, Jeremiah expects the position to crack the first round this year.
"I think when you look at Melvin Gordon, he's a clean player," Jeremiah said. "He's explosive, he's productive, he can catch the ball, he's one of the best blocking backs in the entire draft. I love him. If Todd Gurley doesn't have an injury, I think that's a slam dunk. Both those guys are goinig to be in that conversation."
