A.J. Johnson has NFL Scouting Combine invite revoked

A.J.-Johnson-21315-tos

Just days before the NFL Scouting Combine was set to kick off in Indianapolis, one 2015 NFL Draft prospect learned he was no longer welcome at the event.

Former Tennessee Volunteers linebacker A.J. Johnson will not travel to the combine and participate in the event. The news was first reported by The Tennessean.

Johnson was indicted by a Knoxville grand jury on two counts of aggravated rape earlier in the week.

Johnson, the Volunteers' leading tackler last season with 101, was suspended by the football program and head coach Butch Jones last year after a 19-year-old woman accused him and teammate Michael Williams of rape in November. That was the second serious charge on Johnson's record; he was also arrested on charges of purchasing alcohol for an underage person and resisting arrest.

The pending legal case and revoked invitation probably means Johnson's NFL future is slim to none, with the possibility of serious prision time a possibility.

The NFL Scouting Combine runs from Feb. 17-23 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
