INDIANAPOLIS -- Dorial Green-Beckham might not have made an impact at Oklahoma on Saturdays last fall, but his presence was most definitely felt on the practice field.
Oklahoma tight end Blake Bell said he became close with Green-Beckham, the troubled wide receiver who transferred to Oklahoma after being dismissed from Missouri, during his lone semester at the school. And according to Bell, the 6-foot-6, 225-pound receiver flashed prolific talent at OU practices.
"He dominated over on the scout team," Bell said.
Green-Beckham filed for early draft eligibility and will work out for NFL clubs at the NFL Scouting Combine on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium. Scouts consider him an elite-level talent, but disciplinary issues at Missouri could hound his draft status from a character standpoint. His ouster at Missouri stemmed from a burglary investigation in which he was never legally charged but was accused of pushing a female several steps down a staircase. As much as training for the draft physically, he is working to repair his image, as well.
Bell, for one, said Green-Beckham's attitude at OU -- even after his appeal of an NCAA rule requiring him to sit out the season was denied -- was exemplary.
"People say, 'Was he really on team?' Absolutely. He was part of us," Bell said. "He was right there at practice, always in the locker room."
Green-Beckham caught 59 passes for 883 yards and 12 touchdowns at Missouri in 2013.
