INDIANAPOLIS -- Georgia running back Todd Gurley declined to allow doctors at the NFL Scouting Combine to examine his injured knee, according to NFL Media's Mike Silver.
The former Bulldogs star tore his ACL on Nov. 15 against Auburn, his first game following a four-game suspension for an NCAA violation for profiting on autographed memorabilia. Gurley said Thursday that his time frame for completing rehabilitation on the knee is six to nine months, which could range from a rookie minicamp return to a mid-August return in the midst of the preseason.
Perhaps acting on the advice of his agent (he has signed with Jay Z's Roc Nation Sports), Gurley obviously feels the knee isn't yet ready for a close look from the NFL. Silver indicated via Twitter that Gurley's refusal was highly unusual, and that he would likely return to have the knee checked at some point closer to the NFL draft, which runs from April 30-May 2. While Silver indicated NFL clubs aren't used to hearing the word no when it comes to medical examinations, Gurley has apparently been impressive otherwise.
