Representatives from 28 NFL teams, including position coaches from the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles, were on hand for Arkansas' pro day on Wednesday.
A total of 17 prospects worked out, including four who were at the NFL Scouting Combine. The event was held indoors and run on a very good surface.
Defensive tackle Darius Philon (6-foot-1 1/8, 198) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.99 and 4.89 seconds. He had a 20-yard short shuttle time of 4.75 seconds and a three-cone drill time of 7.53 seconds. He stood on the rest of his numbers from the combine. Philon is a good player, who will probably be a third-day pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Tight end A.J. Derby (6-3 3/4, 251) ran the 40 in 4.75 and 4.69 seconds. He did the short shuttle in 4.51 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.99 seconds. He had a good workout, and caught the ball well going through his tight end drills.
Defensive end Trey Flowers (6-2 1/8, 263) ran the 40 in 4.83 and 4.87 seconds. He had a 36 1/2-inch vertical jump, did the three-cone drill in 7.28 seconds, and then stood on the rest of his numbers from the combine (he was a top performer among his peers in the vertical jump, broad jump and 60-yard shuttle). At Arkansas' pro day, Flowers worked out both as a defensive end and as a drop-back type linebacker. His best NFL position, however, will be with his hand in the ground rushing the passer.
Outside linebacker Martrell Spaight (6-0 1/8, 237) ran the 40 in 4.80 and 4.83 seconds. He had a 9-foot-6 broad jump, a 7.10-second three-cone time, and then stood on the rest of his numbers from the combine. Spaight looked good in the positional drills and will probably be a third-day draft selection.
