Frank Gore isn't the only big-name free agent eyeing the Indianapolis Colts.
NFL Media's Albert Breer reported that the former 49ers running back will travel to Indy on Tuesday along with ex-Houston Texans wideout Andre Johnson to meet with team brass, per a source apprised of the situation.
"Frank Gore got cold feet over the last 48 hours and talked to friends about what he should do," Breer told NFL Network on Tuesday. "... I'm told that both he and his ex-University of Miami teammate, Andre Johnson, will be traveling to Indianapolis to meet with the Colts, with (general manager) Ryan Grigson and coach Chuck Pagano."
Our own College Football 24/7 analyst Lance Zierlein first heard word of Gore and Johnson joining forces. Johnson called Gore about heading to Indianapolis together, which bodes well for the Colts' chances of signing Johnson.
Both Pagano and Colts offensive assistant Rob Chudzinski worked previously with the Miami Hurricanes. That shared DNA is paying off in Indy, along with the power of having star quarterback Andrew Luck on the roster.
Gore would fill an immediate need in Indy's backfield. Johnson, meanwhile, would fortify the team's receiving core while, at long last, joining a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
