Michael Sam and Brady Quinn might have been the headliners at the NFL's inaugural Veteran Combine, but it was Nathan Slaughter who was the first to land a job.
The Arizona Cardinals signed Slaughter on Monday, the team announced.
A former West Texas A&M wide receiver, Slaughter ran the fastest 40-yard dash at the Veteran Combine on Sunday.
Slaughter was originally signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent last season. He was waived shortly thereafter and spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Cardinals already have a better version of Slaughter in speedster John Brown. That bodes poorly for the 5-foot-9 newcomer's chances of making an impact this season.
