How might P.J. Williams look in a Baltimore Ravens uniform?
General manager Ozzie Newsome will soon be getting a better idea, as the club will be hosting the former Florida State cornerback for a pre-draft visit to the team's facility, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Baltimore holds the No. 26 overall pick in the draft, but cornerback isn't necessarily an area of pressing, first-round need for the Ravens. A wide receiver, running back or a defensive lineman is the more logical direction for Newsome's first pick. By the time the Ravens choose again at No. 58 overall, however, Williams isn't likely to be available. He ranks as the draft's No. 33 overall prospect, according to NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah.
Still, it's not surprising that the Ravens are taking a close look at one of the draft's best cover men.
Williams projects as the kind of cornerback who can better handle the bigger, taller wide receivers beginning to populate NFL rosters more heavily. At 6-0, 195 pounds, he is bigger than most at the position, and as evidenced by this outrageous display of leaping ability, he can contest the fade passes that frustrate smaller corners.
A player like Williams might come in handy twice a year against a talent like the Cincinnati Bengals' A.J. Green.
