As the Washington-might-draft-Marcus-Mariota narrative grows, so does the belief that Robert Griffin III still has support inside and out of the team's facility.
The latest comes from former Super Bowl-winning quarterback and Redskins executive Doug Williams, who went on SiriusXM NFL Radio this weekend to make his case.
"This is a young guy that's got some talent," Williams said. "There are adjustments that he has to make if I think given time, and I think that's one of the reasons why nobody has given up on him. With the talent that he does have, you're hoping that the last couple of years with the injuries and everything is out of the way, that he will develop into the guy that we all hope for him to be. I think it's fair to give him that opportunity."
The "everything" Williams is talking about could be anything from a power struggle between his first coach (Mike Shanahan) and owner and a tug of war with the second, Jay Gruden, who has not been afraid to criticize Griffin publicly.
While there's no doubt Griffin still has talent -- the 2012 season cannot be a complete fluke -- Griffin certainly has shown that his game needs adjusting at the pro level.
Perhaps that is what Williams is referring to, and in a way, he'd know better than most. Williams' career had many stops and starts before he led Washington to a dominant win in the Super Bowl.
