As we approach the 2015 NFL Draft, the San Diego Chargers are smack dab in the middle of two big crossroads.
The first involves the franchise's potential relocation to Los Angeles and the other involves the team's longtime quarterback, Philip Rivers.
The two issues appear to be linked to each other and have helped fuel talk that Rivers could end up being dealt to the Tennessee Titans for the No. 2 overall pick, which San Diego would likely spend on Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota.
However, if you're asking NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah to make the choice between holding onto Rivers or starting anew with Mariota, the decision is clear.
"I think that Philip Rivers is their best chance to win football games in this upcoming season and over the next few years," Jeremiah said on NFL Network's "Path to the Draft" Wednesday. "To me, this decision will come down to not only what they think Rivers has left, but how much conviction do they have in that room for Marcus Mariota. I'm talking about owner, general manager, head coach, personnel staff, coaching staff.
"You have to be all in and be very confident that he's going to be your guy because we know how hard it is to find franchise quarterbacks. Ask the Cleveland Browns about that. You've got Philip Rivers there now, who I believe has a few good years left."
As Around the NFL's Gregg Rosenthal writes, Chargers GM Tom Telesco has a few different to consider. If the Chargers decide to move Rivers to the Titans, Jeremiah does see a potential fit between Mariota and the Bolts.
However, a proven commodity at quarterback in the NFL -- especially one at Rivers' level -- is hard for any team to pass up in order to explore what an unproven player can do under center.
The situation adds even more intrigue to a draft that already has plenty of it.
