The Oakland Raiders, who hold the No. 4 overall pick, have been linked to the draft's top wide receiver prospects all offseason.
However, if picking a pass-catcher is indeed their intention, they're at least doing their due diligence on one of the draft's top edge rushers.
The organization sent a four-person contingent to work out Clemson's Vic Beasley on Friday, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.
Defensive coordinator Ken Norton, Jr., was accompanied by defensive line coach Jethro Franklin and a linebackers coach, per Rapoport, who also reported that the Jaguars sent defensive line coach Todd Wash to follow up with Beasley.
Beasley is NFL Media analyst Mike Mayock's No. 3 edge rusher in the draft and is considered a likely top-10 pick after a stellar performance at the Tigers' pro day and the NFL Scouting Combine.
Could Beasley end up playing alongside last year's rookie sensation, Khalil Mack, in Oakland? That remains to be seen with less than two weeks to go until the draft gets underway, but it has to be a nice scenario for head coach Jack Del Rio to ponder.
However, NFL Media analysts are in agreement, based on recent mock drafts, that the team will go with one of the draft's top wide receivers -- Alabama's Amari Cooper or West Virginia's Kevin White -- with the No. 4 overall pick.
If the team finds a trade offer it likes and decides to move back, or simply wants to boost its defense further, Beasley could certainly be an option.
