Kyle Arrington wasn't out of work for long.
The Baltimore Ravens announced Wednesday they have signed the veteran slot corner, who was released by the New England Patriots on Monday. Financial terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed.
Arrington fills a major area of need for the Ravens, who have significant depth issues in their secondary. Cornerback Jimmy Smith is making his return from Lisfranc foot surgery, while cornerback Lardarius Webb is coming off a season in which he finished 78th out of 108 qualified cornerbacks in Pro Football Focus' ratings.
Surprisingly, the Ravens didn't prioritize cornerback in the free agency or draft. Fourth-round selection of Tray Walker was the only addition of note before Wednesday.
Arrington will step into Baltimore's slot corner role, a job he performed well for most of his run with the Patriots. Arrington, 29, had particular success against T.Y. Hilton, shutting down the Colts star in two meetings last year, including the AFC Championship Game.
Arrington might have to wait until the playoffs to see Hilton again. The same could be said for another prominent AFC slot guy -- former Patriots teammate Julian Edelman.
