The New York Giants' offensive line woes continue.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Giants left tackle Will Beatty suffered a torn pectoral injury lifting weights on Tuesday, per a source who has spoken to the player. Beatty underwent successful surgery Wednesday night, the team announced.
The news is a huge blow to the Giants' offensive line. The injury is expected to knock Beatty out until late in the season.
Big Blue drafted Ereck Flowers No. 9 overall to be the left tackle of the future, but that timeline might get accelerated. Flowers or Justin Pugh will be in line to protect Eli Manning's blindside.
Flowers had been slotted to start on the right side, kicking Pugh to a guard spot. That plan now goes out the window.
The Giants have been attempting to bolster their offensive line the past several years with little luck. Last year guard Geoff Schwartz was signed to aid the interior, but played just two games due to injury.
Now Big Blue will head into another season without their projected offensive line fully intact.
