Sam Bradford: Knee continues to feel great after drills

When coach Chip Kelly acknowledged late last month that the Philadelphia Eagles' starting job is open to competition, it appeared that Sam Bradford's surgically repaired knee might not be healthy enough to start the season opener.

One beat writer noted at the time that Bradford looked like a "slightly more mobile version of a JUGS machine."

Now Bradford insists the past two weeks of practices have "gone exactly how we wanted it to."

"We are going to take it day-by-day (and) keep progressing," Bradford added. "It's trending in the right direction. I've increased the workload the past couple of weeks and it's continued to feel great afterwards."

Multiple beat writers pointed out Monday that Bradford is noticeably more mobile than he was in previous practices.

Bradford will still have to avoid a faceplant and hold off an improvedMark Sanchez in August, but he remains the heavy favorite to open the season under center.

Offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur stated last week that he's "very confident" Bradford will be "ready to go when it's time to play for real."
