A positive offseason for Green Bay Packers tight end Andrew Quarless took a sideways turn early Saturday morning.
The 26-year-old was arrested at 5:35 a.m. on Saturday and charged with misdemeanor discharging a firearm in public, Miami Beach PD confirmed to NFL Media.
The Miami New Times first reported the arrest.
According to the incident report obtained by NFL Media, officers responded to a call after two shots were fired in the 500th block of Lenox Avenue in Miami Beach, following an argument between two males and a group of women near a parking garage.
Police later found the black Porsche a few blocks away. Quarless was alleged to be attempting to hide the gun in a potted plant near a local tavern. Police matched rounds from the gun to those found near the parking garage.
There were no injuries, according to police.
Quarless is still in police custody.
The tight end could be subject to discipline under the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy, pending the resolution of the chargers.
Quarless made 11 starts in 2014, catching 29 passes for 323 yards and three touchdowns. He drew high praise from Aaron Rodgers this offseason, who said the tight end was ready to take "the jump" in 2015.
The latest incident could derail that leap coming to fruition.
Later on Saturday, the Packers released the following statement: "We are aware of the matter involving Andrew Quarless and are in the process of gathering more information. We will withhold further comment."
