Beckham: 'The catch' overshadowed rookie success

ESPN The Magazine will soon roll out their annual Everybody Get Naked! edition -- better known as The Body Issue. One of the famous athletes who agreed to strip down for the sake of art and commerce is Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

In the accompanying interview, Beckham laments how his famous one-handed touchdown catch against the Cowboys last season overshadowed other achievements during a fantastic rookie season.

"It's unfortunate, in a way, to be known only for 'the catch,'" Beckham said. "There were so many other things I did during the season; it's hard for me to distinguish myself because of that catch. I know that I'm more than that. But at least people know you, you know what I mean?"

Beckham might have some mixed feelings about the catch, but it still surprises him when he sees it.

"When I watch it, I'm like, 'Wow, that really happened!' It's still a little crazy to me," he said. "I envisioned myself making some kind of catch in the end zone, but I didn't know exactly what it was going to be. You have to have a picture of what you want to do before you can do it -- I learned that from (Cardinals free safety) Tyrann Mathieu. I knew that I was capable of it, but just seeing it and the reaction to it, it was by far the craziest thing that has ever happened to me."

Beckham may never make another catch as good as he did in the seventh game of his career. It's a lot to live up to, but he should have plenty of years to deliver some competition in his greatest hits collection.
