#CFBTop20: No. 9, Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M

Myles-Garrett-TOS-Top-20

Myles Garrett had an impressive true freshman season at Texas A&M, leading his team in quarterback sacks (11.5, an SEC freshman record) and tackles for loss (14). He was a consensus 2014 Freshman All-American and a Freshman All-SEC selection, and added second-team All-SEC honors.

Alongside USC CB/WR/KR Adoree' Jackson and Georgia running back Nick Chubb, Garrett is among a power trio of true sophomores who have already made their mark on the college game. Expect Texas A&M's new defensive coordinator, John Chavis, to find more ways to put Garrett into great position for another massive season.

Pulling back the curtain on the vote

Garrett earned votes from four of seven CFB 24/7 experts, with two of those votes coming in the top five and another in the top 10. In CFB 24/7's "15 for '15" series, Garrett was ranked among the top 15 defensive players in college football.

What some of our analysts are saying about Garrett

"He put on a show during his freshman campaign and I expect him to continue to improve. That's scary." -- Daniel Jeremiah

"The dominant pass rusher off the edge in college football, Garrett has ridiculous edge speed and he will take it to the next level with a year under his belt." -- Lance Zierlein

"With natural bend and the prototypical pass-rusher frame, the sky's the limit for this young man. He'll be closer to the top of this list next year." -- Chad Reuter

"Had 11 1/2 sacks in 2014 as a true freshman. Has great speed and quickness. Outstanding pass rusher who plays hard." -- Gil Brandt
