The Pittsburgh Steelers found a veteran kicker to help plug the hole caused by injuries.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported the Steelers acquired long-time Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Josh Scobee, per a source informed of the deal.
The Steelers were in dire straights in the kicking game, especially considering Heinz Field is one of the most difficult stadiums to kick at.
Garrett Hartley left this weekend's game with a hamstring injury just two weeks after being signed following Shaun Suisham's season-ending ACL tear.
Scobee had been in Jacksonville his entire career, dating back to 2004. Entering his 12th NFL season, the 33-year-old booter has converted 235 of 291 field goals (80.8 percent). For his career, Scobee has converted 26 of 42 from 50-plus yards (61.9 percent), but went just 3 of 6 in 2014 from that distance.
The trade means rookie kicker Jason Myers won the job in Jacksonville. The first-year player from Marist has hit 4 of 5 attempts, including a long of 55 yards in the preseason.
The Steelers reportedly will send back a late-round pick to the Jags.
