Anthony Castonzo, come on down.
"Left tackles like Anthony Castonzo are hard to come by," Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said in a statement. "He's a team first guy that works as hard at his craft as anyone I have ever been around regardless of position."
Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly and Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus also worked out extensions Thursday.
Castonzo is set to get $35 million over the first three years of the deal, per Rapoport.
Over the course of Andrew Luck's career in Indianapolis, a major subplot will be the Colts' ability to pair him with a suitable offensive line. Castonzo is certainly one of the best at his position, which is why Indianapolis wanted to make him feel at home for a while.
However, Luck has been knocked to the turf more than any other player at his position over the last three years. He's not as mobile -- or apparently fragile -- as Robert Griffin III, but those hits will still end up taking their toll.
Indianapolis hopes that Luck can play nearly two decades before it has to go reaching for the next great NFL quarterback. Shoring up Castonzo is a good start.
