It looks like no one will be forcing Seahawks general manager John Schneider to change his stance on no-show safety Kam Chancellor any time soon.
According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, Schneider has the backing of owner Paul Allen, a typically hands-off owner who has "been informed of every single development and is standing behind GM John Schneider's stance."
From the outside looking in, this seems like a battle the Seahawks expect to win. Chancellor is losing money, after all. As of this Sunday, lost wages and fines will have exceeded $2 million.
While his absence was clearly felt in a Week 1 loss to the Rams -- NFL Media's Michael Robinson noted that Chancellor lines Earl Thomas up and sets the edge on defense -- Seattle is hoping that Chancellor gets tired of the waiting game soon.
Allen was really the only member of the organization more powerful than Schneider that could weigh in anyway. Now that his allegiance has been clearly established, it's up to Seattle to find a way to win without Chancellor, or it's up to Chancellor to find a way to play through his financial disappointment.
