Julio Jones to play, but Falcons will monitor pitch count

Julio Jones will play Thursday, but his snaps will be tracked against the New Orleans Saints.

NFL Media's Tiffany Blackmon reported that Jones will play Thursday night, but the Atlanta Falcons will "monitor his pitch count," according to a team source.

The Falcons source acknowledged that at this point in the season most players are banged up.

"Look it's Week 6, everybody is beat up, sore," the source told Blackmon. "You may see him out there holding the hamstring, but Julio feels they've got something special going right now. They are 5-0 and want to pull as far away from the Saints as they can."

The Falcons reportedly planned to monitor Jones' snap count in last week's win over the Washington Redskins. However, game flow dictated the Pro Bowl receiver stay on the field, seeing 73 of 80 snaps.

On Tuesday, Jones insisted he wouldn't miss the game against the Saints.

"My leg is going to have to be off or something for me not to play," Jones told Blackmon.

Thankfully, Julio's leg will be on and we'll get to watch him go up against a secondary that has given up the 10th-most passing yards per game this season. When Jones takes plays off Leonard Hankerson and Roddy White will pick up the slack.

The team announced on Wednesday that Jones is listed as probable for Thursday night's clash with the Saints.
