The Dallas Cowboys hope to see continued progress from Dez Bryant on Thursday.
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said that Bryant -- who hasn't played since Week 1 following foot surgery -- has not been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against the Giants and is considered day-to-day. Garrett said the team will gauge Bryant's progress with more work on the field in Thursday's practice. He officially was listed as a DNP, however, instead he continued to rehab on the side.
The rehab and conditioning work mirrors what Bryant did Wednesday. Garrett said Bryant has a "good day," per NFL Media's Desmond Purnell. Bryant did some running and cutting, though Garrett added "there are degrees to how well you do those things."
The Cowboys will be watching to see how Bryant responds to Wednesday's workload.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been openly optimistic for weeks that Bryant would be ready to play after the team's bye week, but the established recovery timetable indicates that may be wishful thinking. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported earlier this week that Bryant is unlikely to play against the Giants.
If nothing else, keeping Bryant on the radar ensures the Giants will have to game plan for one of the NFC's top playmakers. But actually seeing him on the field still feels like a longshot.
