Pittsburgh Steelers star running back Le'Veon Bell was carted off the field with a right knee injury in the second quarter of Sunday's 16-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, the team announced.
Bell immediately reached for his right knee after his leg buckled when it was trapped under his body on a sideline tackle. Unable to put weight on the leg, Bell went straight to the trainer's table. From there, he was carted to the locker room.
The injury is reminiscent of the Week 17 matchup between the two teams, as Bell suffered a hyperextended knee that thwarted Pittsburgh's postseason hopes.
A paragon of patience, vision and sharp cuts, Bell was the focal point of the Steelers' offense in this game, totaling 58 yards on 12 touches in a quarter and a half of action.
Back in the lineup for the first time in a month, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger enjoyed just 20 minutes with his full complement of playmakers in Bell, Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant.
Veteran DeAngelo Williams will assume Bell's workhorse role in the backfield, barring a surprising second-half comeback for the starter.
Around The NFL will have more on Bell as soon as information becomes available.
