Joseph Randle is free. Not in a good way, though.
Randle isn't an attractive option for teams seeking immediate run-game help. The third-year back faces a one- or two-game suspension after violating the NFL's personal-conduct policy for a recent arrest in Wichita, Kansas. Randle was also arrested for shoplifting in 2014.
With Darren McFadden finally heating up in Big D and Christine Michael waiting in the wings, the Cowboys weren't in the mood to give Randle special treatment. After promising a big season, the former fifth-rounder managed a mundane 313 yards and four scores at 4.1 yards per pop over six games.
Randle has a future in the league -- he's just 23 -- but he'll need to first clean up his off-field issues and catch someone's eye on the weekly workout circuit for another shot at a meaningful role.
