A dashboard video of Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett being arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated has been released, showing the captain of the defending national champion Buckeyes as he was pulled over, denied consuming alcohol and performed a field sobriety test.
In the video, published by TMZ Sports, Barrett asked for consideration as the OSU quarterback.
"I'm the quarterback at Ohio State, you know what I'm saying?" Barrett said. "Officer, there is nothing you can do?"
Although Barrett tested whether his status could help him, the video shows he was fully compliant with police and showed none of the belligerence that celebrities sometimes do in similar situations.
Barrett was cited for OVI early on the morning of Oct. 31.
Barrett served a one-game suspension vs. Minnesota last week as part of the discipline chosen by coach Urban Meyer after the incident, but Barrett was not stripped of his status as team captain. He pleaded guilty earlier this week, and was ordered to complete an alcohol education program, fined $400, and surrendered his driver's license for 180 days.
Barrett is expected to return to the starting lineup Saturday at Illinois.
