Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford was knocked out of Sunday's 20-19 loss to the Miami Dolphins after taking a big hit during the third quarter.
Bradford suffered an AC joint sprain in his non-throwing shoulder, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source informed of his injury. Since it's a non-throwing shoulder, it is unclear how much time he'll miss. However, it's possible he could play next week.
The Eagles quarterback also suffered a concussion on the play.
Bradford immediately motioned to leave the game, and then walked to the locker room while in clear pain. The Eagles later announced that Bradford suffered the concussion and that X-rays he underwent on his left shoulder were negative. He did not return to the game.
Mark Sanchez, who started eight games for the Eagles last season, entered with the Eaglesleading 16-13 midway through the third quarter.
The timing is cruel for Bradford and the Eagles. He was coming off his best game of the season, and had played well against Miami. He is finally starting to appear comfortable in Chip Kelly's system. Bradford absorbed a number of big hits in the Miami game, with Dolphins linebacker Chris McCain delivering the hit that knocked Bradford from the game. Philadelphia's offensive tackles have struggled with Jason Peters on the sideline.
Eagles running back Ryan Mathews also left early to be evaluated for a concussion and did not return.
