In the wake of Ohio State's 17-14 loss to Michigan State on Saturday, its final home game of the year, Buckeyes fourth-year junior Cardale Jones dropped a hint as to his intentions for the future:
Of course, Jones could always follow this up with a "I just meant last time this season" hedge, but Buckeyes fans likely won't be holding their breath.
Jones lost the quarterback job in midseason to J.T. Barrett, and Jones can only wonder what 2016 would hold for him as a Buckeye. Being benched for ineffectiveness is the last thing a draft prospect wants to have to overcome in his final college season, but Jones has physical traits in his size (6-foot-5, 250 pounds) and arm strength that would be attractive to NFL scouts.
Underclassmen have until Jan. 18 to apply for early entry into the 2016 NFL Draft.
Jones led OSU to the national championship last season with consecutive postseason wins over Wisconsin, Alabama and Oregon, and won the starting nod to open the season before giving way to Barrett.
