South Carolina wide receiver Pharoh Cooper intends to apply for early entry into the 2016 NFL Draft, his father told The State.
The junior's NFL potential, rather than the Gamecocks' pending coaching hire, drove the decision, according to Glen Cooper.
"He wants to ride the wave at its high point," Glen Cooper said.
Pharoh Cooper has certainly been the high point of the entire Gamecocks team in 2015. While South Carolina has struggled to a 3-8 record and the resignation of former coach Steve Spurrier, Cooper has been outstanding. He's caught 62 passes for 887 yards and seven touchdowns, along with rushing and Wildcat quarterback roles than have helped the Gamecocks get the ball in the hands of their best playmaker more often.
With South Carolina failing to reach a bowl game, the team will close out its season Saturday against rival Clemson.
