Baylor lost more than a football game on Saturday when it was upset by Texas.
It lost one of its top underclassmen, as well.
Wide receiver Corey Coleman indicated he intends to apply for early eligibility into the 2016 NFL Draft, per The Statesman. Baylor coach Art Briles made mention of the decision as well, according to Shehan Jeyarajah of the Dallas Morning News.
With the season Coleman has had, it should come as little surprise. NFL Media's Rand Getlin reported earlier this week that Coleman was strongly considering applying for early draft entry.
The junior has 74 receptions for 1,363 yards entering the Bears' bowl appearance, including a whopping 20 touchdown catches. He was far less effective late in the season as Baylor began losing more quarterback depth to injuries, and didn't catch a touchdown pass in the Bears' final four games. Some of the quarterback injuries also coincided with the toughest stretch of the Bears' schedule.
Still, Coleman remains a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award as the nation's top receiver. Coleman has until a Jan. 18 deadline to formally apply for early entry into the 2016 draft. Other top Baylor underclassmen who are expected to consider applying for early draft eligibility include defensive tackle Andrew Billings and cornerback Xavien Howard.
