Beamer: Va. Tech CB Kendall Fuller intends to enter 2016 draft

Virginia Tech defensive back Kendall Fuller will apply for early eligibility into the 2016 NFL Draft.

Retiring Hokies coach Frank Beamer confirmed the junior's intentions on Tuesday, praising the entire Fuller family. Kyle's brothers starred at VT as well, including the Chicago Bears' 2014 first-round draft pick, Kyle Fuller.

"Virginia Tech is better because the Fuller brothers were Hokies. Vinny, Corey, Kyle and Kendall were all different, but they were all the same in that they were smart, competitive, very athletic and great teammates, who possessed great character," Beamer said, per the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The junior is considered one of the most talented cornerbacks in college football. His 2015 season was cut short by a torn meniscus, suffered during preseason practice, that he tried to play through for three games. Fuller broke up 26 passes over the first two years of his college career to establish himself as one of the top man-to-man coverage players in the ACC. NFL Media analyst Lance Zierlein ranked him as the No. 3 defensive back in college football before the season.

Underclassmen have until a Jan. 18 deadline to apply for early draft eligibility.
