Peyton Manning held out Friday, ruled out for Week 15

Peyton Manning has experienced a setback in his return from a plantar fascia tear.

Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak gave Manning the day off Friday, according to NFL Media's James Palmer. The venerable quarterback confessed that his foot was sore after running the scout team in Wednesday's practice.

This news comes less than 24 hours after Archie Manning revealed that his son's foot injury has been an issue since summer time. It should come as no surprise that Manning is still experiencing discomfort from an injury that goes back months.

Although Manning will make the trip to Pittsburgh this weekend, he's already been ruled out for the game.

When Kubiak delayed his starting quarterback announcement early this week, it appeared that Brock Osweiler might be facing a must-win situation versus the Steelers.

Manning's setback changes that. If he's not capable of practicing without soreness, Kubiak has no choice but to ride out the regular season with Osweiler under center.
