What Kenneth Dixon took from Keenan Reynolds last week, the Navy quarterback took back on Monday.
Reynolds ran for three touchdowns and threw for another in leading Navy past Pittsburgh, 44-28, in the Military Bowl. He broke the FBS record for career touchdowns from scrimmage with 88. Reynolds had set the record earlier this month with 85 in the Army-Navy game, but Dixon, Louisiana Tech's four-year star at running back, broke Reynolds' mark in the New Orleans Bowl on Dec. 19.
The mark wasn't Dixon's to enjoy for long.
Reynolds led Navy to a winning finish in an 11-2 season, and it wasn't the only lasting mark he left in his final game as a four-year starting quarterback in the Midshipmen's triple-option offense. He also broke the NCAA record for career rushing yards by a quarterback, confounding the Panthers' defense not only with his rushing skills but in other ways, as well. Reynolds completed 9 of 17 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown, and even caught a 47-yard pass from Shawn White.
Reynolds rushed 24 times for a game-high 144 yards.
He has accepted an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game next month, where NFL coaches and scouts are expected to evaluate him for a possible position switch. He's listed as a running back on the list of players that have accepted invites.
The top draft prospect in the Military Bowl, Pittsburgh receiver Tyler Boyd, caught a game-high six passes for 53 yards. Boyd is a junior who has not yet announced his intentions for the 2016 draft. Underclassmen have until a Jan. 18 deadline to apply for early draft eligibility.
