It appears Brock Osweiler's starting job is safe for another week thanks to the Broncos' 20-17 overtime win over the Bengals on Monday.
Earlier Monday on NFL Network's NFL Total Access, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport said Peyton Manning could start the Broncos' season finale Sunday against the Chargers if Denver fell at home against the Bengals.
Rapoport told NFL Network's Lindsay Rhodes there is "no chance" Manning will start against San Diego next week if Osweiler played well. However, Rapoport said there is a "very real chance" Manning would start in Week 17 if the Broncos stumbled -- and they didn't.
After Monday's win, Kubiak also said Osweiler is set to start on Sunday.
"Yeah, I've said that. Nothing has changed with Brock," Kubiak said. "If something would change, players would know first."
Manning is making significant physical progress. Though the 39-year-old quarterback will never be fully healthy this season, he has gone through four straight throwing sessions without a setback. Manning, who has been sidelined since mid-November with a foot injury, could return to practice as soon as this week.
