The Seahawks are preparing for Sunday night's game against the Vikings without Marshawn Lynch, who did not board the team's flight to Minnesota despite being listed as a full participant in practice on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
So what happened?
Via NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, Lynch knew something was still not right with his body. He had spent the previous month in San Francisco rehabbing from an abdominal issue and thought he would be able to return to the team with no issues. During the week, though, Lynch felt the pain flare up again but still thought he could gut through the issue in Minnesota.
The breaking point came just as the team was starting to board the flight. That's when Lynch decided to let team officials know that he simply wasn't going to be at his best against the Vikings.
The team officially announced that Lynch is out for Sunday's game.
Lynch's setback from sports hernia surgery will not officially keep him out next week too, should Seattle survive their matchup with the NFC North winners.
After seeing how one carry could change a game on Saturday night, Seahawks fans should not be too disappointed. The team has played well with Christine Michael and Co. in Lynch's absence -- well enough not to force the ball to a player with a serious core injury.
