Buccaneers assistant puts Spence through pro day workout

Representatives from 28 NFL teams -- including Washington Redskins director of college scouting Scott Campbell, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive line coach Jay Hayes and New York Jets senior director of college scouting Rex Hogan -- were present for Eastern Kentucky's pro day on Friday.

A total of 12 Eastern Kentucky players and eight others from area smaller colleges took part in the workout, which was held outdoors and run on Fieldturf in 39-degree temperatures but no wind.

After a disappointing NFL Scouting Combine, much of the attention was on defensive end Noah Spence. Spence weighed in at 248, and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.75 and 4.79 seconds (just slightly faster than the 4.8 40 he ran in Indianapolis on Sunday). He had a good positional workout, which was run by Hayes.

Two other prospects with the potential to be free-agent pickups following the conclusion of the 2016 NFL Draft also took part in the pro day.

Running back Dy'Shawn Mobley -- 5-foot-10, 216 pounds -- ran the 40 in 4.67 and 4.66 seconds, had a 30 1/2-inch vertical jump and 9-foot-2 broad jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.63 seconds and had a three-cone drill time of 7.11 seconds. He also performed 24 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press.

Cornerback Stanley Absanon -- 5-10 1/4, 183 -- ran the 40 in 4.7 and 4.67 seconds. He had a 32-inch vertical and 10-foot broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.26 seconds and the three-cone in 7.15 seconds. He also performed eight bench press reps.
