Transactions roundup: Steelers re-sign William Gay

Cornerback William Gay won't hit the free agent market.

The veteran corner is re-signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to the team.

The 31-year-old corner started all 16 games for the Steelers last season, compiling seven passes defends, two interceptions and 46 tackles. Pro Football Focus rated Gay their No. 34 corner out of 118 in 2015.

Cornerback is a need position for the Steelers this offseason, in free agency and the draft. Locking down Gay ensures Pittsburgh will have depth at the position and a reliable veteran in event an upgrade can't be attained.

Here are Tuesday's other transactions:

  1. Malik Jackson is leaving Denver. Jackson has agreed to a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
  1. Jason Pierre-Paul is staying in New York. JPP and the Giants agreed to a one-year deal.
  1. Charles Johnson is heading back to Carolina. Less than a week after being released by the team, the 29-year-old defensive end agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with the Panthers, a source informed of his plans told Rapoport.
  1. The Chiefs reached an agreement with the linebacker Tamba Hali on a three-year deal.
  1. The Broncoscut veteran tight end Owen Daniels along with guard Louis Vasquez.
  1. Guard Richie Incognito is returning to the Buffalo Bills on a three-year deal.
  1. Joe Webb has agreed to a two-year deal to come back to the Panthers, per the Charlotte Observer.
  1. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport is reporting that tight end Benjamin Watson is leaning towards signing with the Ravens.
  1. The Vikings announced that they have released wide receiver Mike Wallace.
  1. Kicker Adam Vinatierihas agreed to terms on a two-year deal worth $6 million, according to Rapoport.
  1. The Eagles and cornerback Leodis McKelvin have agreed to terms on a two-year contract.
  1. Miami announced Tuesday that the team has restructured the contracts of tight end Jordan Cameron and defensive tackle Robert Thomas II.
  1. The Buccaneers re-signed safety Keith Tandy and released linebacker Bruce Carter.
  1. The Cardinals signed QB Drew Stanton to a two-year contract.
  1. Former Houston Texans center Ben Joneshas agreed to a four-year deal with the Tennessee Titans, the Houston Chronicle reported.

  1. The Broncos will sign ex-Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Donald Stephenson, a source told Rapoport.
  1. Getlin reports that OL Chris Clark has agreed to a two-year, $6 million deal with the Houston Texans.
  1. The Redskins are re-signing quarterback Colt McCoy to a three-year deal, according to NFL Media's Albert Breer.
  1. Former Browns wide receiver Travis Benjamin will sign with the San Diego Chargers once deals can become official on Wednesday, per Getlin.
  1. Former Rams cornerback Janoris Jenkins will sign with the Giants, according to Getlin.
