For some NFL clubs, a formal visit from an elite draft prospect is a chance to give that player its undivided attention. For others, it's better to be done parade-style.
Enter the Jacksonville Jaguars, who will open their doors to a lengthy list of top draft prospects on Tuesday. The list includes Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa, FSU defensive back Jalen Ramsey, UCLA linebacker Myles Jack, Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple, Notre Dame offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley, and Florida cornerback Vernon Hargreaves, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport. NFL Media's Rand Getlin reports Alabama linebacker Reggie Ragland is also visiting the Jaguars, arriving from Baltimore, where he met with the Ravens on Monday. Club official Tad Dickman has also confirmed the Tuesday presence of defensive linemen Kenny Clark of UCLA, and Chris Jones of Mississippi State.
The Jaguars hold the No. 5 overall pick of the draft. Jack is the most popular projection for the club's pick in NFL Media mock drafts, and the dissenting opinions -- Ramsey and Hargreaves -- are also on Tuesday's list of visitors. Ole Miss defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche will visit the Jaguars on Wednesday, as will Clemson safety Jayron Kearse, the nephew of former NFL star Jevon Kearse, according to Rapoport.
A year ago, on this very Tuesday, the parade of elite draft prospects visiting the Jacksonville Jaguars was so large in number, it was difficult to imagine the club having the time to pay enough attention to each. On that day, the Jaguarshosted at least five eventual first-round picks in Leonard Williams, Amari Cooper, Melvin Gordon, Vic Beasley and DeVante Parker. A day later, they hosted three more: Todd Gurley, Shane Ray, and their eventual pick at No. 3 overall, Dante Fowler.
Colleges frequently schedule visits from elite high school prospects for the same weekend as a means of getting them to bond and, hopefully, develop a pack mentality and sign together. It's also a chance to witness how they interact together. Unfortunately for Jaguars coach Gus Bradley, however, the NFL draft offers no such opportunity.
But if the timing of Fowler's visit last year is any indication, at least one future Jaguar could be in the building by tomorrow, if he isn't already.
