CHICAGO -- Leave it to the team closest to Annapolis, Md., to draft the kid from Navy who America can't help but root for.
The Baltimore Ravens drafted Navy's Keenan Reynolds No. 182 overall in the sixth round, picking up a triple-option quarterback who broke the NCAA career record for rushing touchdowns (88). At 5-11, 205 pounds, Reynolds spent the spring facilitating a position change to running back or slot receiver in workouts for multiple NFL clubs. Among them were the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots, but Reynolds also attended the local pro day workout of the Ravens.
He no doubt impressed there.
Along with running back and receiver, Reynolds has also been practicing punt and kickoff returns, something he didn't do at the Naval Academy. It's unclear what direction John Harbaugh will want to go with Reynolds' position, but Reynolds was worked out by teams strictly at offensive positions during the draft process.
He is hoping for permission from the Navy to play NFL football and fulfill his service obligation concurrently, which it has done for Patriots long snapper Joe Cardona.
