Veteran backup quarterback Bruce Gradkowski is returning to Pittsburgh.
The Steelers re-signed Gradkowski to a one-year deal, the team announced Monday.
Gradkowski is expected to compete with Landry Jones for the No. 2 job behind starter Ben Roethlisberger.
The former Toledo star missed the entire 2015 season after undergoing surgery for a dislocated finger sustained in preseason action. The Steelers went on to sign Michael Vick as his replacement.
Gradkowski, 33, has not started an NFL game since 2010. He hasn't thrown a regular-season pass since 2012. Jones should have a leg up on the competition after holding his own in two starts last season.
